Instead of the pattern's 100. Exact: 100 x 44/40 = 110.00
How it works
New stitches = pattern stitches × new measurement ÷ pattern measurement. A body that is 100 stitches for a 40 in finished chest becomes 110.00, so 110 stitches, for 44 in. Because you're scaling the designer's own numbers, the ease they designed in is kept.
Use the finished measurement from the schematic or size chart, not your body measurement, and use the measurement that stitch count actually spans. A back piece's stitches span the back width, not the full chest.
What else changes when you resize
Width changes ripple into shaping: decreases for a yoke or crown, buttonhole spacing, and stitch-pattern repeats.
